Want to get more involved in the Alliance of Professional Women?
Members can serve on one of our committees:
-
The Communiqué
The Communiqué is the Alliance’s monthly newsletter, distributed electronically near the beginning of every month. It aims to help fulfill the Alliance’s mission to connect women personally and professionally. The Communiqué prints articles of interest, news of upcoming events, and provides a forum for members’ exchange. Submitting an article – anything from a Restaurant Review to an article with valuable information for our members – is a great way to fulfill your inner aspiring writer and get the word out about your business.
-
Member Support Committee
The Member Support committee welcomes new members, hosts new member orientation, helps new members connect with other Alliance and ensures that our organization continues to meet the expectations of our members. The committee typically meets the third Thursday of every other month.
-
Fundraising Events Committee
The Fundraising Events committee is responsible for planning the Alliance Foundation’s annual fundraising event. The Foundation funds the Village Bank Program, which provides small business loans to women in third world nations and a Scholarship Program which provides college scholarship to women at the Women’s College at the University of Denver, Metro State College, and the University of Colorado at Denver.
-
Networking Events Committee
The Networking Events Committee is responsible for planning our monthly Networking Luncheons in popular restaurants throughout the city. This committee also plans three to four Business After Hours events annually, which may include presentations on current events, business development, healthcare, social and/or cultural events. The committee typically meets the third Thursday of every month.
-
Outreach Committee
The Outreach Committee is the community service arm of the Alliance of Professional Women. They provide volunteer opportunities for members of the Alliance that promote the health, welfare, education and employment of underserved women in our community. Some past activities include: Race for the Cure, Habitat for Humanity's Women's Build, Adopt-A-Classroom, Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays, Safehouse 5K, cell phone drive for domestic violence, and clothing drive for Dress for Success. The committee typically meets the first Wednesday of every month.
-
Public Affairs Committee
The Public Affairs committee is principally responsible for planning a bi-annual event honoring Colorado Women Legislators, co-sponsored by the Colorado Women’s Bar Association and the Colorado Women’s Lobby. The committee is also dedicated to providing opportunities for members to become politically informed, active and involved. The committee meets for breakfast on the third Tuesday of most months.
